Loud Dog Farm was started in the hopes of giving back to our community. We hope through education and public outreach we can inspire more people to grow their own food and be more self sufficent. Or at least think a little harder about what they pick up at the grocery store! No matter your age or your health good food is a great start for a long healthy life! To date we have donated hundreds of pounds of food, hundreds of hours of community services, and even helped start two farmers markets in our community!!
A large focus of our farm style is on animal behavior and pioneer type agriculture techniques. We want to raise healthy, happy animals. It actually makes for better produce, no matter how you cut it! We select heritage breeds that are considered more personable and slower to grow because we believe This provides better tasting meat but it also allows us to incorporate animals into our educational programs. It’s one thing to hear about a 16 pound chicken another to see one or even hold one!
It's easy to see the therapeutic environment that can be created with these wholesome ingredients. It’s hard to not smile when you see a baby animal or when cooking or enjoying a farm fresh meal. Our programs are laid back and can be enjoyable to both novice and experienced homesteaders! We love hearing homestead stories and continuing to learn and expand our own skills and knowledge. April through October we offer farm tours, guided goat hikes and more to get up close with the animals and really experience life on the farm.

Our Staff!
Mey is the founder and manager of Loud Dog Farm. Her back ground is in animal science and public education. Teaching classes since her youth through 4H and FFA, she went on to study animal sciences including wildlife biology and rehabilitation!
Mey is passionate about reaching her community through agriculture and believes animal behavior can be the key to better production! Mey is the head of our Animal Husbandry Education classes, Dog training and Hoof trimming services.
Harrison, co-owner of Loud Dog Farm. He’s our designer, builder, and expert gardener! Finding his passions for agriculture and animal science after his service in the army. It’s easy to feel lost when suddenly what you thought was your future is no longer. Starting with small greenhouse in North Carolina, who would have thought he’d actually get that farm in Maine he started dreaming of!
It takes a lot of energy to care so much about livestock and produce and your community then adding another full time job to it, makes you wonder why? But we believe that agricultural work is the key to humanity! So we hope all our hard work over all these years more and more people will come around to the old ways of growing their own food and becoming more self sufficient.
